We, the undersigned citizens and supporters of the Palestinian cause in Malaysia, demand that Israel Houghton be prohibited from performing in Malaysia due to his public support for the genocidal and apartheid state of Israel. Even after almost 3 years of the ongoing Israeli military campaign and genocide in Gaza that has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, including 22,000 children, Houghton has never condemned the genocide nor retracted his support for the country perpetrating it, Israel.
Malaysia maintains a steadfast, principled, and historic stance in solidarity with the Palestinian people, vehemently opposing the illegal occupation and humanitarian atrocities committed by Israeli forces.
The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza is a deeply felt issue for Malaysians of all backgrounds. Allowing a figure who condones these atrocities to hold a public platform within the country risks causing widespread public distress and social disharmony.
Malaysia does not recognise the state of Israel and actively advocates globally for the rights and protection of Palestinians. Hosting a performer who publicises support for Israel and never condemns the Israeli military actions in Gaza undermines our national integrity and foreign policy.
We therefore call on the Malaysian government to deny any application by any party for entry permission and performance permit for the known Zionist and genocide-supporter, Israel Houghton.
