We commend the strong stance of the Malaysian prime minister and government in not allowing Israelis to enter the country.
The eight members of the US Congress who signed a letter threatening action against Malaysia over the country’s no-Israeli visitors policy have displayed a breathtaking ignorance and arrogance which we can only hope is not representative of the legislative wing of the American government.
They are ignorant because they should have known that Malaysia has never recognised the genocidal, apartheid, settler-colonial Zionist state since the Nakba of 1948. In line with that and in support for the Palestinian cause, Malaysia has always prohibited Israelis from entering our territory. This is the declared policy for the past eighty years and it will continue to be so. Malaysia is not unique in having such a policy. Many other Muslim and Arab countries have a similar prohibition against Israelis.
For the congressmen to be so infuriated by our prime minister’s promise to kick out Israelis when the US itself is busy kicking out Africans, Arabs and Muslims is shamelessly hypocritical and so typical of those who are beholden to Zionist interests.
For them to lie and label Malaysia’s policy as ‘driving out Jews’ is yet again an example of the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the Zionists. Their antisemitism accusations have worn thin. No one buys them anymore. The prohibition is against Israelis, not Jews. Jewish people who are not Israeli passport holders have always been welcome to enter Malaysia.
They are arrogant in threatening to stop military ties with Malaysia. They do not seem to be aware that currently there are other countries which may have the same level of sophistication in military capabilities that Malaysia can partner with. Malaysia should never sacrifice its sovereignty simply for the sake of military training with the US or for that matter any other country.
The Malaysian government should further strengthen its support for the Palestinian cause by taking action to review its policies and decisions concerning Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Caterpilar Tractors. Both entities are known to be complicit in the genocide and ethnic cleansing by Israel against Palestinians. Only by concrete actions against these enablers will pressure be brought to bear on them to cease their complicity.
We therefore strongly urge the Malaysian government not to waver in its very commendable and praise-worthy pro-Palestine policies and to take real concrete steps against those companies which are complicit in the genocide in Palestine.
