HUNGER STRIKE BY SAUDARA MYTHREYAR OF TAMILAN MALAYSIA
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions Malaysia (BDS Malaysia) expresses our fullest support for the hunger strike by Sdr Mythreyar of Tamilan Malaysia which is being undertaken in protest against the Malaysian government’s plan to allow BlackRock entry into the ownership and management of our country’s airports.
BDS Malaysia reminds Malaysians yet again that BlackRock is a company complicit in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza by the Zionist apartheid state which to date has directly killed almost 40,000 civilians with an estimated 70% of that number being innocent children and women. Experts estimate, in a letter published by The Lancet, the highly respected 200-year old medical journal, that inclusive of those who have died indirectly from the genocidal onslaught the death toll is about 186,000 Palestinians.
We implore the Malaysian government to take heed of the protest by Sdr Mythreyar and millions of other Malaysians and rescind its plan to allow BlackRock significant involvement in the country’s strategic assets. Not doing so can only mean turning a blind eye to the genocide of Palestinians and wilfully disregarding the call by the UN to pressure entities such as BlackRock to stop their complicity in that genocide.
To Sdr Mythreyar, we salute and honour your selflessness and courage – courage that we hope will be replicated by our government in DOING the right thing in support of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
