BDS Malaysia welcomes and applauds Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KEADILAN) for its historic decision to adopt a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) policy in support of Palestinian struggle for the establishment of a free and independent state.
This principled stand — approved by the party’s Central Leadership Council in Kota Kinabalu, marks a significant step forward in aligning Malaysia’s political will with the global movement to end Israel’s apartheid, settler colonialism, and occupation of Palestine.
BDS Malaysia also commends Dr Maszlee Malik, Head of KEADILAN’s International Affairs Bureau, for his leadership and commitment in coordinating the committee that will propose concrete BDS measures for Malaysia and its partners. His steadfast advocacy for justice and the restoration of Palestinian rights has been consistent and principled through the years.
We urge other political parties, government agencies, public institutions, and civil society organisations to emulate KEADILAN’s example by adopting a similar BDS stance. This is not only an act of solidarity but a moral responsibility — one that reflects Malaysia’s long-standing commitment to justice and aligns with the growing global awakening for Palestinian self-determination.
Finally, we call upon the Government of Malaysia to formally incorporate BDS principles into national policy. Such a move would not only strengthen Malaysia’s international stance on justice and human rights, but also give meaningful effect to its repeated condemnations of Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.
BDS Malaysia stands ready to collaborate with all entities committed to justice, and freedom for the Palestinian people.
